Rhodesian Teak is a very hard, strong, durable and even textured wood. The heartwood is light red-brown and turn dark red-brown when exposed to UV light. It is impact resistant and therefor used for flooring and occasionally for furniture. The wood was extensively used for railway sleepers and at present the sleepers is a sought after item for doors and cottage furniture. The trees grow in deciduous woodlands on deep Kalahari sand in Zimbabwe, Northern Botswana, North-eastern Namibia and Southern Zambia.
